## Agent Performance

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:34 AM

###### **Median response time now counts business hours only**

The Agent Performance report now calculates median response time using business hours only. A message that arrives at 9 p.m. on Friday and gets a reply at 9 a.m. on Monday no longer counts as a 60-hour response. So now, the number reflects how quickly each agent responds while they are actually working.

**Where to find it:** *Intelligence* > *Agents* > *Response Time.*

###### **New Task Escalations chart**

The Agent Performance report now includes a Task Escalations chart. So now, you can see how many tasks were escalated to each agent and spot where work is piling up.

**Where to find it:** *Intelligence* > *Agents* > Task Escalations chart.

## Pass the application processing fee on to applicants

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:33 AM

You can now pass the RentEngine application payment processing fee on to applicants. When you turn this on, we add the service fee to the amount the applicant pays at checkout, instead of billing it to you.

**Where to find it:** *Settings > Rental App Templates* > *Pricing*

---

## Show fees on listings outside Colorado, Connecticut, and Massachusetts

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:33 AM

You can now choose to show the total monthly price, including mandatory fees, on listings in any state. We already show the total price for properties in Colorado, Connecticut, and Massachusetts to meet those states' rent transparency rules. This update lets you opt in everywhere else.

We also no longer include optional pet fees in the advertised total, so a renter without a pet sees the price they would actually pay.

**Where to find it:** *Settings* > *Portfolio* > *Fee transparency*

---

## Fraud flags now appear in the showing approval email

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:32 AM

When a showing needs your approval, the approval email now lists the fraud flags that prospect triggered. You can see why we held the showing and decide whether to approve it without opening RentEngine first.

---

## Prospects with only an email address now appear in the Command Center

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:31 AM

Prospects who give you an email address but no phone number now appear in the Command Center.

Some listing sites and website forms only pass along an email address. Those leads now sit in the same inbox as everyone else, so your team can follow up with them instead of losing them outside RentEngine.

**Where to find it:** *Command Center* > select the prospect > reply by email.

---

## Your listings now syndicate to Dwellsy

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:29 AM

Dwellsy is now a RentEngine syndication partner. Your available listings publish to Dwellsy automatically, with no setup and no extra cost.

When a renter inquires on Dwellsy, the lead comes straight into the Command Center. Here, RentEngine AI responds and your prescreening and showing rules apply exactly as they do for every other source.

## Fraud Guard now flags prospects whose device timezone is far from the property

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 29, 2026 at 06:29 AM

Fraud Guard now checks the timezone set on a prospect's device against the timezone of the property they want to tour. When the two are too far apart, we flag the prospect and hold the showing until you approve or cancel it.

Scammers often run rental fraud from overseas, and a device timezone is one more signal that is hard to fake alongside ID verification, phone verification, and GPS checks. A prospect booking a self-guided tour in Phoenix from a phone in Nigeria now just flag to your team before they can get an access code.

**Where to find:** *Settings* > *Showings* > *Prescreening*, then open the template and go to its Fraud Guard section.

---

## Compare your own property against comps in the Market Tool

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 05:08 PM

When you search for one of your own properties in the Market Tool, we now pin it to the top of the All Units comparables list, labeled "Your property," at its current rent in RentEngine. We also hide that unit's own listing from the comps, including on PDFs and owner reports.

**Where to find it:** *Market Tool >* search for your property *> All Units.*

---

## See the showing method in the Showings report

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 05:07 PM

The Showings report in Intelligence now includes a Showing Method column. Virtual showings appear as "Accompanied (Virtual)", so you can pull every virtual showing in one report.

**Where to find it:** *Intelligence > Showings report >* Showing Method column.

## Command Center updates

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 05:06 PM

We made several updates to the Command Center to help your team work through leads faster:

* **Bulk actions:** You can now select multiple leads at once from the Inbox or the Board view, then snooze, archive, or mark them all as withdrawn in one action. Hover over a lead and tick its checkbox.
* **Keyboard shortcuts:** You can now move between conversations without reaching for your mouse: Control/Command + K for next, Command + K for prev.
* **Property links in emails:** You can now type @ while writing an email to add a link to one property, or to all your available properties.
* **Units of interest:** The top of each conversation now shows how many units the prospect is interested in.
* **Prescreening for existing prospects:** You can now fill out a prescreening for a prospect after they have already been added. This is useful when someone calls or walks in.
* **Multi-office inbox:** If you belong to more than one office, you can now see leads from several offices in one inbox and reply from each office’s own leasing number.

## Show conditional fees and fee ranges on your listings

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 05:06 PM

You can now set move-in and monthly fees as conditional, or as a range. This can be done in either a dollar amount or a percentage, the same way [pet fees](https://www.rentengine.io/blog/product-updates-week-20) already work. This helps if you charge certain fees based on credit score or other factors.

Prospects see percentage fees as the calculated dollar amount. Conditional fees are clearly labeled, and the total move-in cost shows as a range when any fee has one. RentEngine AI explains these fees the same way over text and phone. We also send the ranges to Zillow and [Apartments.com](http://apartments.com/) in your listing feeds.

**Where to find it:** Fee settings in your portfolio defaults, on a unit's details, or in bulk edit.

---

## Flag self-guided showings booked to start within minutes

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 05:05 PM

In most self-showing fraud, the scammer tries to schedule a showing immediately. In our own data, prospects who were later blocklisted booked within 30 minutes of the start about twice as often as everyone else.

So now you can flag prospects who book a self-guided showing to start within a set number of minutes.

When a prospect books or reschedules a self-guided showing inside your window, we flag them with the reason "Last-minute booking" and hold the showing for your approval. You see the flag in the Command Center and can clear it or approve the showing from there.

*Disclaimer: Around 16% of all self-guided bookings start within 30 minutes, so this setting works best for teams that can review pending showings quickly. A shorter window, such as 15 minutes, holds fewer showings.*

**Where to find it:** *Settings > Prescreening >* select a template *> Fraud Guard > Behavioral Checks > Last-minute booking.* Off by default, with a window from 5 to 1,440 minutes.

## Collect the application fee before ID and income verification

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 04:56 PM

You can now choose to collect payment before an applicant verifies their ID and income. Going to find a photo ID and recent pay stubs is one of the biggest drop-off points in any application. With payment first, the applicant is already committed when we guide them through ID and income verification next.

Because applicants can now pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, that payment step takes one tap.

You also collect the fee before you incur the cost of ID and income verification, so an applicant who stops partway through no longer costs you anything.

---

## We check every income document the moment it is uploaded

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 04:55 PM

As an applicant uploads their income documents, we now review each one instantly. We check that it is the right file format, that it is not a duplicate, and that it matches what you asked for. We also check the document type (pay stub, bank statement, tax return, and so on) and the dates it covers.

A live checklist above the uploader ticks off each of your requirements as the applicant's files meet them. If they have not uploaded enough, or uploaded the wrong kind of document, we prompt them right away to add what is missing before they move on.

So now, applications require less manual follow-up and have a faster processing time.

---

## Set what proof you require for each type of income

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 26, 2026 at 04:35 PM

You can now customize income verification for each type of income your applicants have. You choose the accepted document types, and how far back they need to go. You can also decide whether a payroll or bank connection is required, optional, or an alternative to uploading documents.

Applicants only see the options that fit their income. A student is not offered a payroll connection, and a self-employed applicant is not asked for pay stubs.

‼️ **Set this up now.** We have moved every existing template to these new default income requirements:

* **Employed and gig income:** a payroll connection or 4 weeks of pay stubs
* **Self-employed income:** a bank connection, 2 years of tax returns, or 4 months of bank statements
* **Benefits:** a benefit letter from the last 60 days
* **Students:** no proof of income required

Templates with income verification turned off stay off. We recommend taking a few minutes to review these and match them to your own screening criteria.

## Chat with the RentEngine team without leaving the Command Center

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 15, 2026 at 01:13 PM

The RentEngine support chat is available in the Command Center so you can now ask our team a question from the same screen where you are working with prospects.

---

## Pull your open tasks into your own tools with the new Tasks API and webhook

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 15, 2026 at 01:13 PM

You can now pull every open task in your account through the RentEngine public API, including the prospect, the date it was created, the assigned agent, and the task type. You can filter by status, task type, prospect, agent, or date. You can also resolve or reopen a task from your own system.

We also added a tasks webhook, so your system hears about a new task as soon as it is created instead of having to check.

If your team runs its day from a CRM or internal dashboard, missed calls, AI escalations, and showings awaiting approval can now land there automatically, with the right agent already assigned.

---

## Attach letters and documents to rental application emails

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 15, 2026 at 01:12 PM

You can now attach files to approval and rejection emails, whether you are sending one to a single applicant or setting up the email template in Automation. You can attach up to 7 MB of files per email, and you can see the attachments in the application's email logs alongside the email itself.

If your team sends an approval letter or move-in instructions with every approval, those files can now go out in the same email instead of a separate follow-up.

**Where to find it:** *Rental Application Templates* > *Automation* **or** on an individual applicant’s application under *Rental Applications* > click the applicant > *Take Action* > *Approve or Decline*. In both places, use the attachment option under the email body.

---

## Pause RentEngine AI while you take over a conversation

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 15, 2026 at 01:10 PM

When you toggle off RentEngine AI in a Command Center conversation, you can now pause it for 30 minutes or 1 hour instead of turning it off completely. No automatic follow-ups are sent while it is paused, and once the time runs out, RentEngine AI turns back on for that prospect.

You can chat with a prospect yourself without RentEngine AI replying at the same time, and you no longer have to remember to turn it back on afterward. That way, a prospect is never left waiting for a reply after you finish talking to them, and every lead keeps getting a fast response.

Hover over the RentEngine AI toggle at any point to see exactly when responses resume. Every pause is recorded in the conversation and in the audit log, along with who paused it and for how long.

**Where to find it:** *Command Center* > open a conversation > *RentEngine AI toggle* (next to the Text and Email options, just above the message box) > *Pause for 30 minutes or Pause for 1 hour.*

---

## Collect applications with move-in dates up to 12 months out

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 08, 2026 at 12:10 PM

Applicants can now choose a desired move-in date up to 12 months away on the rental application. This is up from the original 4 months. This gives you room to collect applications well ahead of when a unit becomes available.

For a property near a university, that means you can list a unit for next summer and take applications from students who make their housing decisions 6 to 9 months in advance.

**Where to find it:** *Rental Application* > *Move-in date.*

## Use Command Center 2.0 from your phone in the mobile app

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 08, 2026 at 12:09 PM

The updates we shipped to [Command Center 2.0](https://www.rentengine.io/blog/product-updates-week-39-2026) last week are now in the RentEngine mobile app. Open tasks show with an orange outline on the conversation. Inside the thread a "Needs attention" banner explains why, with a Resolved button once you have handled it. Also, a new filter shows only conversations with an open task.

Hot Leads and prospects with an upcoming showing now have an icon next to their name, so you can spot both from the conversation list. Prescreening results now show in Prospect Info, and prospect emails appear in the same thread as their texts and calls.

You can also swipe left on a conversation to archive it, or press and hold to mark a Hot Lead, resolve, snooze, or set a reminder without opening the thread. A new sort control switches between Most urgent and Newest.

For an agent between showings, that means easily opening the app, sorting by Most urgent, and working through open tasks.

## Stay on a call while you move to other pages in RentEngine

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 08, 2026 at 12:09 PM

You can now keep a call going while you move to other parts of RentEngine. The call stays connected and the call controls stay on screen, so you can look up a unit, an application, or a showing without hanging up.

When a prospect asks a question, that means you can click over to find the answer and come back to the conversation without the call dropping.

Note: you still need to be in the Command Center to start or answer a call.

**Where to find it:** *[Command Center](https://app.rentengine.io/command-center-v2)* > start or answer a call, then click to any other page.

## Sign in to RentEngine with your Google or Microsoft account

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 08, 2026 at 12:08 PM

You can now sign in to [RentEngine](https://app.rentengine.io/) with Google or Microsoft. Pick the account that matches the email on your RentEngine user, and you are in.

That means one less password for you and your team to create, remember, and reset. If your company already runs on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, everyone signs in to RentEngine the same way they sign in to their email.

For a new leasing agent joining your team, that means accepting their invite and signing in with the company account they already have. No setting up a separate RentEngine password first.

---

## Search rental applications by full name

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:39 AM

You can now search rental applications by an applicant's full name, not just one name. Search "Maria Lopez" and you get Maria Lopez, instead of every Maria and every Lopez on your account.

**Where to find it:** Rental Applications > search bar.

---

## Choose which Trusted Contacts can get SentriLock shackle codes

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:38 AM

You can now turn shackle code access on or off for each Trusted Contact. With it off, that contact cannot request a shackle code. The "-s" instruction for shackle codes no longer appears in the welcome text we send them. They can still text a serial number for a lockbox code.

For a vendor who only ever needs to get into the unit, that means they can open the lockbox but cannot remove it from the property.

Existing Trusted Contacts keep shackle code access unless you turn it off.

**Where to find it:** Lockboxes > Trusted Contacts > edit a contact.

---

## Capture walk-ins and log completed showings from the thread

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:37 AM

When you add a prospect, you can now fill in their prescreening answers in the same step.

You can also log a showing that was never booked in RentEngine, such as a walk-in you showed the unit to on the spot, a tour you arranged over the phone, or a unit the owner showed themselves.

You can log it right away or once you are back at your desk, and date it to when the showing actually happened. Choose **Showing Completed** from the Action menu, add the time, showing type, and agent, and add their feedback.

**Where to find it:** Command Center > Inbox > Add Prospect. To log a showing: open the conversation > Action > Showing Completed.

---

## Notifications

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:35 AM

A new bell shows a dot whenever a conversation needs you, with a list of those conversations one click away.

---

## Calls stay connected when you leave the Command Center

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:34 AM

When you are on a call, you can now move to any other page in RentEngine and the call stays connected. The call controls will stay on the screen.

If a prospect asks where their application stands, you can open Rental Applications and check while they are still on the line.

**Where to find it:** Start or answer a call in the Command Center, then go to any other page.

---

## Mark prospects as “Hot Leads” and feature a listing to prioritize its prospects

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:33 AM

You can now mark any prospect as a Hot Lead from the conversation menu, and turn on **Hot leads only** to filter your Command Center views down to them.

When your Inbox is full of new inquiries, it is easy for the prospects most likely to sign to get buried. Marking them as Hot Leads keeps them one click away. Also, because we show the Hot Lead marker next to their name in the Inbox, on the Board, and in the conversation, everyone on your team can see who to prioritize.

For example, if a prospect loved the unit on their tour and asked about the application, you can mark them as a Hot Lead and check in on them first thing each morning until they apply.

To prioritize a whole property, click the star next to it on the Properties page to make it a Featured Listing. Every prospect on that unit then shows as a Hot Lead, and any new lead on it raises a task escalation.

**Where to find it:** Hot Leads: the menu on any conversation in the Inbox or Board. Featured Listings: Properties > the star in a unit's Actions column.

---

## Send and receive emails with prospects, right in the Command Center

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:32 AM

When a prospect emails you, you now see their email in the same thread as your texts and calls, and you can reply from there. You can switch between Text and Email in the composer bar, and we save a draft of whatever you were typing when you switch. When you start a new message, we set it to whichever channel the prospect last used.

When the conversation moves from text to email or back, we add a short divider to the thread so you can see where it switched.

We send emails from your team's account, so nothing gets dropped, even when someone is on vacation. You can also CC and BCC others on your emails and add attachments. When a prospect emails you a document, you can find it in the new prospect panel on the right.

---

## Set your filters once, and see them everywhere you work

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:32 AM

You can now set up permanent filters in your Command Center filters. The same filters apply across the Inbox, the Board, the mobile app, and the notifications you get.

You can filter by:

* **Property:** one or more units, or a whole multifamily building at once
* **Agent and sub-team:** your own leads, specific agents, a sub-team, or everyone
* **Lead type:** prospects, current tenants for occupied showings, real estate agents, owners, and more
* **Status and date range:** any leasing stage, for leads that came in over the time window you choose
* **Hot leads**
* **Unassigned leads, unregistered callers, leads with no follow-up scheduled, and archived conversations:** show or hide each one
* **Account:** if your company runs more than one RentEngine account, you can see them all in one Command Center

Agents start on their own prospects and subteams, and admins start with the whole account. You can widen or narrow either view at any time.

An agent on a subteam can hide unregistered callers and leave those to the receptionist or RentEngine AI, so their own list stays focused on their leads.

**Where to find it:** Command Center > Filters, at the top of the page.

## Use Tasks to create action items for your team

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:31 AM

You can now choose which situations need someone on your team to step in, and we turn each one into a Task. For example, an admin can set it up so that any missed call or canceled showing creates a Task for a team member to call that prospect.

A conversation with an open Task gets an orange border in the Inbox and on the Board, and we show the reason in place of the last message. When you open it, you see a banner above the thread explaining what happened and which property it is about.

We clear the Task once you reply or handle the action, or you can click **Resolved** to clear it yourself. Either way, it clears for everyone on your team, and if you resolve one by mistake, you can undo it.

There are 14 types of Tasks in this release, with more coming soon. We have already turned on six for you: unanswered messages, missed calls, AI escalations, and showing approvals, manual follow-up scheduled, pending showing approval.

Enable “**Has open task”** at the top of the Command Center to see only the conversations with an open Task. Tasks are visible to every agent associated with that property, not only the prospect's assigned agent.

**Where to find it:** Settings > Communication > Task Escalations.

---

## Switch between an Inbox and a Board view

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Oct 01, 2026 at 09:29 AM

You can now see your prospects in the Command Center in two ways: as an Inbox of conversations, or as a Kanban-style Board that groups them by leasing stage. Use the toggle at the top of the page to switch between them.

💡 **Keyboard shortcuts:** We have also added keyboard shortcuts to the Command Center. Press i to open the Inbox, b to open the Board, or / to jump to search.

The **Inbox** is where you reply. You get one row per person, even when they are interested in several units. The Most urgent sort pins anything with an open task to the top. An orange left border marks any conversation that has an unanswered message or an open task, and it clears as soon as you reply or resolve the task. Next to it, a Showings panel lists every upcoming showing by day, and clicking a prospect's name opens their conversation.

The **Board** is where you work the pipeline. Every prospect sits in a lane based on where they are in the leasing process. The pipeline goes from New and Showing through to Application approved and Moved in. RentEngine moves the card for you when the prospect's status changes, so there is nothing to drag. The chat opens right next to the Board, and Cmd + Enter (Ctrl + Enter on Windows) sends your reply and jumps straight to the next prospect.

For a leasing agent starting the day with 20 unanswered messages, that means working through all of them from the keyboard, one after the other, without clicking back into a list.

Your selected conversation and any unsent drafts carry over when you switch between the two views.

The Board view shows every prospect in a lane by leasing stage, with the chat docked next to it.

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Sep 23, 2026 at 08:38 PM

If you run several RentEngine accounts off one Buildium account, you can now choose which Buildium property groups you sync to each RentEngine account. That way, you only import the properties each account needs. Reach out to Support via chat to help you set this up.

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Sep 23, 2026 at 08:37 PM

The Prospect report in Intelligence now includes a Fraud Flagged column. This shows whether a prospect has never been flagged, currently has an open fraud flag, or had one that was later resolved.

**Where to find it:** Intelligence > Reports > Fraud Flagged column.

## Edited notes moved out of the Archive

**Category:** Improvement
**Published:** Sep 23, 2026 at 08:33 PM

When you edit a note, you'll now see a "See Edits" link directly under it. Click it to expand every earlier version in place.

If you edit a note three times, you'll find all three earlier versions one click away, right where you'd look for them.

In the Archive, you'll now only see the notes and follow-ups someone on your team chose to archive. If you archive a note that has edits, you can still open its "See Edits" thread from there.

**Where to find it:** In the Command Center, click into a prospect to open the right-side panel. In Rental Applications, it shows up in the Notes column.

## Conditional Approval sends the applicant the condition you set

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Sep 17, 2026 at 09:21 AM

You can now approve an application with a condition attached and tell the applicant what that condition is in the same step.

Use the 'Notes' field to add additional conditions, **e.g., a higher security deposit, a co-signer, or additional documents that you are still waiting on**.

You can then send the applicant a customizable email and text telling them what is needed.

The conditional approval can also push to your PMS.

**Where to find it:** *Application review page* > *Take Action* > *Conditional Approval >* complete the fields.

## ID verification bypass request

**Category:** New Feature

If you have ID verification turned on, prospects who fail the check now see an **ID verification bypass request** option. That covers anyone with a paper or temporary ID, or no valid ID at all.

It asks them to photograph the document they have and check a box that confirms that they do not have a valid ID and would like to bypass the step.

You then get an email notification with the details and a direct link to open the application and bypass the step. RentEngine AI also escalates any text conversation to your team when a prospect says they cannot upload an ID or only have a temporary one.

**Category:** Improvement

You can now edit a note after saving it, **instead of deleting it and adding it again**. Click the edit icon next to the archive button in the Manage notes drawer, and both the note text and the address become editable.

The **previous version moves to Archive**, so you keep the full history.

**Where to find it:** *Notes & Follow-ups* section in the [Command Center](https://app.rentengine.io/command-center) and on a rental application review page.

**Where to find it:** *Settings* > *[Developer](https://app.rentengine.io/developer/portal)* >  *API Keys* > Create New API Key.

## Customizable PMS Sync

**Category:** New Feature
**Published:** Sep 17, 2026 at 09:13 AM

You can now control your PMS sync at the field level. A "Customize Synced Fields" button in your PMS settings opens a field sync modal. Here you decide for each field, whether it **syncs continuously, only on the initial import, or not at all**. Fields set to sync continuously update every 10 minutes.

For a listing description you have rewritten in RentEngine, marking that field "only on the initial import" means your version sticks after the initial import. After that, it will not get overwritten the next time your PMS pushes an update.

**Where to find it:** *Settings > [Company](https://app.rentengine.io/owner/settings/companyinfo) > Customize Synced Fields.*
