Zone2Ai
Your Apple Watch and Garmin Zone 2 is wrong for 90% of people. It uses a formula from 1970 that does not account for your actual fitness. Zone2AI learns your real zones from your workouts — more accurate every session.
Apple Watch Routes Now Sync to Apple Health
Your outdoor GPS routes from Apple Watch workouts will now save directly to Apple Health, so you can see your full route history in one place.
No more missing maps after a run or ride — everything you record is preserved where you expect it.
Hiking Added to Garmin Activity Types
You can now select Hiking as a workout type on your Garmin watch. 🥾 Your hikes will be correctly classified in Garmin Connect and Strava (as "Hike" with elevation gain) instead of showing up as a generic "Workout."
If you've been using "Other" or "Walking" for your hikes, switching to the dedicated Hiking option means better activity categorization and more accurate stats across all your connected fitness platforms.
Explore Your Personal Heart Rate Zones in the Zone 2 Guide
The Zone 2 Guide now features a brand-new "Your Zones" section that shows your personalized heart rate zones with real BPM ranges — so you always know exactly where to train. 💓
No more guessing what Zone 2 or Zone 5 means for your body. This section puts your personal training targets front and center, with layered detail you can explore at your own pace.
- Prominent cards for Zone 2 (aerobic base) and Zone 5 (VO2 Max / Sprint) showing your personal BPM ranges, with tap-to-reveal Q&A on when to train, what it feels like, and what's happening in your body.
- "All 5 Zones at a Glance" collapsible view with percentage-of-max descriptors and personal range highlights for Zone 2 and Zone 5.
- Norwegian 4×4 Protocol breakdown with color-coded interval structure (warm-up, 4× sprint + recovery, cool-down) you can read at a glance, plus Q&A on intensity and timing.
- Your Zone 5 range is pulled from HealthKit when available, with a smart formula fallback so it never shows blank.
Think of it as your personal cheat sheet for heart rate training — always accessible, always tailored to you. 🏃♂️
Garmin sync status banner on Home screen
There's now a handy sync status banner right on your Home screen that shows you the current state of your Garmin connection. No more guessing whether your watch data is syncing properly — you'll see it at a glance! 👀
Incline picker now available for indoor walking 🚶♂️
Good news for treadmill walkers! You can now set your incline for indoor walking workouts, just like you could for indoor running. This works on both Apple Watch and Garmin devices. 🎉
Our metabolic efficiency engine has also been updated to apply gravity offset correction to walking workouts, so your calorie and zone calculations will be more accurate when you're walking at an incline.
- Incline picker now appears for indoor walking on Apple Watch and Garmin CIQ

- UI prompts updated to mention walking alongside running

Garmin ConnectIQ SDK Integration — Real Bidirectional Sync! ⌚
Big one! Zone2Ai now uses the official Garmin ConnectIQ Mobile SDK for direct communication between your iPhone and your Garmin watch. This replaces our previous local server approach with a much more reliable, native connection. 🎉
Here's what this means for you:

- Device discovery is handled through Garmin's native selection flow, making pairing smoother and more reliable
- The Garmin App Install Guide now shows your real connection status, so you always know if your watch is linked
- Firebase is still available as a fallback, so you won't lose data if the direct connection drops
If you're a Garmin user, you should notice a much snappier and more dependable sync experience going forward. Let us know how it feels!
